TAURUS EXPLORES INTL TERRITORY
Taurus Entertainment, the distribution and production company formerly partnered with United Artists Theater Circuit, will make its foray into the international marketplace at this year’s American Film Market.
The 10-year-old company, headed by industry vets Stanley, James and Robert Dudelson, will offer international sales on a number of new features and series, as well as rights in selected territories to its back catalog.
Foreign sales hire
Carole DeLosSantos, a veteran of overseas sales outfits such as 21st Century and FM Entertainment, has joined the company to head its foreign sales division.
Titles in Taurus’ library include George Romero’s “Day of the Dead,” John Landis’ “Kentucky Fried Movie” and “The Invisible Kid.”

In addition, Taurus will offer presales on the psychological thriller “Dirty Games.”
The company is also developing TV series based on two features in its library: “Creepshow,” the 1982 horror anthology written by Stephen King; and “Compromising Positions,” the Frank Perry-helmed adaptation of Susan Isaacs’ novel.
Taurus was formed in 1987 when the Dudelsons’ Artists Entertainment Group merged with United Film Distribution, the domestic distribution subsidiary of United Artists Theatre Circuit.
Library bonus
When UATC was bought out by Tele-Communications Inc. in 1989, the Dudelsons bought UATC’s share in the partnership, acquiring a 45-title library in the process.
Company chairman Stanley Dudelson was formerly president of New Line Distribution and founder of its international division.
Robert Dudelson, a former sales manager for New Line, is producer along with Floyd Byars on the upcoming Triumph Films release “Mastermind,” starring Patrick Stewart.
